Lonely Dove

Your breath speaks with a hint of sadness
All eyes are turned upon the madness
In your head
You’re always in your head
But so am I
Your words are full of doubt and questions
Focus love on their intentions
Lonely dove
You’ve lost your way
Lonely dove
So fly on home
Through the air
I’ll be here
Singing songs we sang last year
Get out of your head
Forget where you’ve been
And fly on home
Remember when
We’d sit and talk for hours
About our plans
And how nothing matters
Simple mind
Oh you’ve got a simple mind
But so do I
I know one day we’ll find the answers
To all these prayers But for now with you
I’m all the time
You and I are
All the time
And it's only July
Don’t forget
I’ll be here
Singing songs you’ve yet to hear
Get out of your head
Forget where you’ve been
And fly on home

I haven't seen the sun in quite a few days
Been wandering in the dark, searching for a way to shine
And mend a broken heart, or find a better lane to joy
That I know is there somewhere
Some trees have tumbled down, some caves have crumbled in
The road has always seemed to ripple with the wind of time
We do our best, and overcome it as we go along
Joining in the same old song
So don't worry about me now
I might be lost, but I will soon be found
Don't forget, nobody got anywhere the way they thought they would
That I can see it all as just a lame excuse
And tell you not to cry, as if I never broke your heart
Reminds me who I am is only one peculiar view
Wish I'd seen the one from you
Cus what do I know about what is truth and what is false?
Everything changes with the neverending pulse of life
All that I know is what is right in front of me
I know that everything will be okay
So don't worry about me now
I might be lost, but I will soon be found
Don't forget, nobody got anywhere the way they thought they would
So don't worry about me now
Cus I was lost, but now you know I'm found
Don't forget, nobody got anywhere the way they thought they would.

Birds and Bees

Once in a while, I go down to the side of the road where I said bye to you.
You have been gone so long, I don't know when I last held you and closed my own eyes.
Seems like nothing can last.
But the birds and the bees will hide in the trees
And swim in the lakes of our pride
The shadows they make will grow tall on the wall
Cause grown men to cry, and strong knees to shake
They came with a flag and a, "Thank you, my dear, for the service your son did provide."
I felt my knees break as the world crashed around, all the things I held dear turned to dust.
Now you only live in my mind.
But the birds and the bees will hide in the trees
And swim in the lakes of our pride
The shadows they make will grow tall on the wall
Cause grown men to cry, and strong knees to break
"Goodbye my dear, please don't shed but a tear.
I will see you in July.
We will grow happy in our little home,
I will be back before long"
